Australia is golfing heaven with world class golf courses to suit all tastes. From the traditional courses of Melbourne’s famous sandbelt to the Gold Coasts landscaped resort courses, Australia is the ideal location for that next golfing adventure.

In Melbourne alone, you will find approximately fifteen championship private and public golf courses all within a 30 minute drive of the heart of the city. Melbourne’s ’sandbelt’ golf courses are rated amongst the world’s greatest and include Royal Melbourne Golf Club (1998 President’s Cup and 2002 Heineken Classic), Metropolitan Golf Club (2001 Anderson Consulting Matchplay), Huntingdale Golf Club (Australian Masters), Kingston Heath Golf Club, Yarra Yarra Golf Club (Australian Women’s Open), Commonwealth Golf Club, and Victoria Golf Club.
MELBOURNE AREA
Sandbelt Region. Melbourne’s’ sandbelt region boasts some of Australia’s finest golf courses including Royal Melbourne, ranked as one of the Worlds best golf courses. Nearby courses include Huntingdale, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan, Victoria, Commonwealth and Yarra Yarra.
Mornington Peninsula. Mornington Peninsula is located close to Melbourne. The rugged coastal area provides perfect links conditions with The National (3 courses), Cape Schanck, The Dunes, Portsea and the new Moonah Links providing exceptional golfing experiences. The region is also home to many superb wineries.
Sydney is Australia’s Harbour City and recent host to the 2000 Olympic Games. The cities famous Harbour Bridge and Opera House look over the spectacular harbour with the city offering plenty of attractions and shopping experiences for the visitor.
NEW SOUTH WALES
Sydney and surrounds. The harbour city and host to the 200o Olympic Games has a number of courses close to the City including the beautiful and challenging New South Wales Golf Course. Within a short drive is the Hunter Valley wine region and Cypress Lakes Resort Course. Also close by is Port Macquarie and the Horizons Resort Course.
Located close to Brisbane, Australia’s famous Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are golfing mecca’s with many superb resort courses combined with an ideal climate and a selection of attractions for all ages from the rolling surf to Theme Parks for the family
QUEENSLAND
Gold Coast. Queensland Gold Coast is a tourist haven with miles of beaches, shopping and numerous attractions. Golfers are spoilt for choice with courses including The Glades, Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove, Palm Meadows, Royal Pines, Lakelands, Robina Woods and Paradise Springs all within easy reach.
Northern Queensland combines the sensational Great Barrier Reef with miles of untouched beaches, rainforests and a tropical climate. A selection of golf courses make this an ideal destination for a golfing holiday of a tropical nature.
Cairns and surrounds. Tropical golf can be experience in North Queensland. Courses including Paradise Palms, Links at Port Douglas combined with luxury accommodation and the Great Barrier Reef and other attractions.
OTHER AREAS
Adelaide. Known as the ‘City of Churches’ Adelaide is close to a number of excellent wineries and home to Royal Adelaide, one of Australia’s finest courses.
Perth and surrounds. Perth is a cosmopolitan City on Australia’s West Coast with a number of excellent golf courses in and around the City including The Vines and The Links at Kennedy Bay...

Moonah Links located on the Mornington Peninsula will become the new home of the Australian Golf Union and Australian Golf Museum, and will also host the Australia Open every three years. This will create for Australian golf an official headquarters, similar to the Royal and Ancient at St. Andrews. The region is also famous for it’s wines, which are considered some of the finest in the country.

GOLF COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
The Metropolitan Golf Club (Ranked number 6 in Australia)
Metropolitan enjoys a reputation as one of the best-conditioned and most beautiful courses in the country. Pure couch grass fairways with large, fast bent-grass greens that are hand-mown to the edges of the greenside bunkers add greatly to the challenge of the course. In total there are 106 bunkers and almost every hole is flanked by huge stands of Australian native trees which provide sanctuary to many species of native birds.
Kingston Heath Golf Club (Ranked number 2 in Australia)
Kingston Heath - Ranked number 2 in Australia, Kingston Heath is one of Australia’s most famous golf clubs. The course is situated in the heart of Melbourne’s Sandbelt and has played host to many of the biggest events in Australian golf.
Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Ranked number 1 in Australia)
Royal Melbourne - Designed by Dr Alister Mackenzie and Alex Russell, Royal Melbourne is Australia’s most famous and internationally acclaimed golf course. Home of the 1998 President’s Cup, the Composite course is often ranked amongst the World’s Top 6 golf courses. The composite course is made up of 12 holes from the West Course and 6 holes from the East Course.
Moonah Links Open Course (Ranked number 15 in Australia)
Moonah Links provides an opportunity for all golfers to play genuine championship courses; the West Course being a "Stadium" style Links course built for The Australian Open. No longer will memberships be a prerequisite for Australian Open standard golf.
The National Old Course (Ranked number 16 in Australia) The National Moonah Course (Ranked number 9 in Australia)
The National Golf Course at Cape Schanck has long been recognised as one of the most spectacular courses in the country, and when new land was acquired nearby back in 1996 to build two links style courses it looked every bit as good. What has developed from the initial planning stages is a 54-hole golf mega-complex, featuring three world class golf courses - the Old National course (designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr), the new Moonah course (designed by Greg Norman) and the Ocean course (designed by Thomson Wolveridge and Perrett)
